Feeding Your Family When You Work From Home
3 Nov
Something that often happens with parents that work from home, particularly single parents, is finding the time and money to feed your kids home cooked meals. A healthy and nutritious meal seems to cost a lot more than something like hotdogs and baked beans. Therefore, these parents are constantly trying to find ways to feed their families that will not break their budget. They also need meals that don’t take a lot of time to put together and get on the table.
First of all, a crockpot is your friend. If you don’t have one, it’s time to invest in one. These marvelous little inventions have made it possible for many years for people to feed their families healthy, nutritious and delicious meals without having to spend hours in the kitchen. The other thing is that crockpots don’t use quite as much electricity as a stove or oven and it doesn’t heat up your house in the summer. These days there are multitudes of recipes developed especially for crockpot meals. However, you don’t have to have a recipe book because you can cook anything in a crockpot.
Some of the simpler ideas include pot roast, beef stroganoff, spaghetti, chili, soups, and that’s just the top of the list. A pot roast can have potatoes, onions, mushrooms, and carrots all cooked together. That evening at dinner, you can simply add some dinner rolls and a salad if you want. Depending on the size of the crockpot, you can cook turkeys, chickens, and hams in them as well.
It’s so easy to create a wonderful meal in a crockpot. All you have to do is get up about 30 minutes earlier than you usually need to and head to the kitchen for preparation. Just about any of the simple recipes for crockpots can be prepared in such a short amount of time that you can get any cutting, chopping, slicing or dicing done that you may need to do and have it all in the crockpot in a matter of minutes. Then you can go to your office and start working. Your meal will be cooking all day as you go about your job responsibilities. By that evening, your home will smell amazing and your family will think you spent all day cooking instead of working.
Another useful way to cook quick and easy meals is through using an electric skillet. You can also simply use a large skillet and use a lid to cover the simmering food if you need to. There are some very tasty meals that come out of cooking a one skillet meal. These usually don’t cost a lot of money for the ingredients.
Either of these methods can be worked into busy day of running a home business. With just a tiny bit of organization on your part, your cooking can be cut in half while your family enjoys some of the most amazing meals they’ll ever have in their lives.
