Making Website Stats Fun and Interesting!

VisitorVille.com is a cool program that analyzes your
website’s statistics in a unique and interesting way.

Instead of performing like a standard web stats program
with boring charts and graphs, this software is set up so
that each visitor to your web site is represented by a
computer animated character.

This gives the perception that you are looking at a
computer game rather than a boring web stats display page.

What’s really interesting about this software is that you
can see your visitors for what they are – real people who
are on your site.

You can even hover over each person you see on the screen
to find out where they’re from, what browser they’re using,
where they’re navigating on your site, and so on.

It’s very creative and unique how this company has adapted
this gaming feature to web site stats, and it’s very
interesting to get in and play around with the various
features of the software.

You can actually watch how people travel throughout your
site, allowing you to get a clear indication as to which
portions of your site are the most popular, and which ones
you might need to work on improving.

VisitorVille takes the usually tedious job of checking web
stats to an entirely new level.

Check it out for yourself at:

List Building For Cash – Using a Follow Up System!

I hope you are learning a lot from this list building for
profit ecourse.

Today let’s jump right in to STEP #4…

Using a Follow Up System!

This is where many online sellers fall short. Statistics
show that most people do not buy the first time they read
about a product.

Usually it takes 7 or more times before they are willing
and most importantly, ready to purchase something from you.
If you only send out one or two messages about your product
then chances are you are missing a lot of sales.

That is why using a good follow up system is extremely
important to your earning success.

Often times, a “follow up” system is already part of your
autoresponder system. Whether you run this yourself or not.

But what is a “follow up” system?

A follow up system is just what it sounds like: “A system
utilized for following up with previous, current or future
customers by sending out scheduled notices”.

Many times this follow up system will generate more
profits for you than the initial sale or mailing that you
send out.

This is because a subscriber that has bought from you in
the past will be happy to buy from you again if they were
satisfied with their previous purchase.

This is why it is important to have a good follow up
system in place that recommends additional products to your
customers. The object is to send your list of subscribers
more than one emailing after your initial promotional email.

Does this mean you have to pitch the same product every
time?

NO!

And should you send out the emails consecutively?

YES and NO!!

The last question is really up to you and how fast you
want to profit from your list. It also depends on any pre-
determined qualities you’ve applied to your specific list.

For instance, do you have a “set” schedule for when you
send out mailings to your list?

Weekly – Bi-Weekly – Monthly or Quarterly?

If you send out a promotional email and you don’t get the
sales that you had hoped for the first time its not always
because your subscriber didn’t like the offer.

It could be that your subject line didn’t catch their eye
and didn’t open the email, they might not have had cash the
week you sent it out or maybe your email didn’t make it
through their spam filters.

The point is there are a million of reasons why your
readers may not have jumped on your offer the first time
you sent it out. And that is the whole point of this
lesson.

It takes more than just the initial “offer” to make sales.
And if you’re not willing to go this extra step, believe
me, someone else will!

Take a chance. Send out a couple extra emails to your
customers/subscribers. The worst they can do is delete it,
or unsubscribe. In which case, you stood more to lose than
gain from an unresponsive or uninterested subscriber.

Whatever you decide when to send follow up mailings, it’s
a good idea let your subscribers know in advance to expect
these types of mailings from you, and approximately how
often they will receive them.

Ok. Let’s take a minute and refer back to your first
lesson in this series. If you’ll remember we talked about
autoresponders and how to use them to build your list.

Now that you know you need to have a follow up system, why
not take the time to write up several follow up emails for
the product that you are promoting and plug them into your
autoresponder.

This way you know that once a person subscribes to your
list, or buys one of your products, they will receive the
follow up messages that will help close the sale or offer
more products.

I guarantee if you take the time to do this for every
product that you offer you will see your profits increase.

If you didn’t take the time to get a good autoresponder
service after reading lesson one, here are a couple of
reliable ones for you to check out:

http://www.GetResponse.com

I hope you are learning a lot from this short course.
Please let me know what you think.

In next weeks lesson you will learn why repetitiveness is
key to your success.

Simple Traffic Tactics – Lesson #4

Welcome to Lesson #4 in your short Simple Traffic Tactics
ecourse.

In the last lesson we talked about using blogs to drive
more traffic to your website.

Today we are going to go over some of the importance of
using search engine optimization in driving additional
traffic to your website.

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a term widely used
today by many profitable sites.

Search engines, such as Google and Yahoo are used millions
of times a day by people all over the world to find the
sites that they need to go to, the products they want to
purchase or information they are seeking.

Most people that use the search engines only use the ten
top search results to find the information they are looking
for. So making it to the first page in the “Big 3″ (Google,
Yahoo and MSN) is a barometer of a sites success in search
engine optimization.

If you can make it on the first page for your search term,
your site has a higher probability in being clicked on. And
of course, the more traffic for your site, the more
business you are able generate.

So just what is search engine optimization and why do you
need to use it?

The answer to why you have to use it is an easy one. With
search engine optimization you can get the benefit of
generating a high volume of natural traffic to your site.

Therefore, you need to apply search engine optimization
tactics to at least make it to the first page of the search
engine ranking page.

If you get listed on the first page of the rankings, you
could get a hundred hits or more a day. This could
potentially generate a sizeable number of sales (and
income) if your conversion rates are good.

However, search engine optimization can require a lot of
work.

There are many aspects you may have to change on your site
to get good search engine ranking. These will include
researching information about the keyword phrases that are
popular in your niche.

You may also need to rewrite your content so that you
get the right concentration of keywords in your site
without making it seem too commercial and spammy.

There are certain rules and guidelines to be followed in
making your site’s content applicable and conducive to
search engine optimization.

However, SEO is far too extensive to discuss everything in
this lesson, so you need research the right guidelines
and methods for applying search engine optimization
techniques to your site.

If you are able to afford it, begin outsourcing the SEO
tasks needed to improve your rankings, such as keyword
research, article writing, finding backlinks, etc.

Now you may not see an immediate results, but if you start
optimizing your website for the search engines today, down
the track you will see the end result is more traffic and
more profits for you.

Make sure you look for your next issue soon. We will
talking about how to generate traffic to your website with
articles.

Creating Quality Articles in Minutes!

Articles are a very popular and easy way of getting
traffic to your blog or website. Articles are popular
because search engines, website owners and ezine
publishers love fresh, quality content.

A good article that informs the reader about a certain
topic qualifies as fresh, quality content. Therefore if you
can create quality articles you can get backlinks and
traffic to your website.

If you are a blog owner, creating quality articles for
submission to the major article directories is very easy
because your blog is already be filled with quality content.

All you really need to do is take the content from your
blog and package it into 350-500 word articles complete
with a catchy headline.

This should realistically only take you a few minutes and
once you have an article put together you will then want to
submit the article to a few major article directories.

5-Step Plan – Selecting the Right Merchants!

In the last lesson we finalized Step #2 and today we move
on to Step #3…

…Selecting the Right Merchants!

If you’re using an affiliate network such as Commission
Junction or Share a Sale you will need to apply as an
affiliate for each merchant you want to promote.

In most cases, affiliates are approved automatically.
There are some merchants however, who are very particular
about who is allowed to promote their products.

So in rare cases you may find that you are denied as an
affiliate for a particular merchant you want to promote.

If you’re in a large network however, there should be
plenty of alternative merchants for you to select from.

- WHAT TO LOOK FOR

If you’re new to the affiliate marketing industry, you may
find merchant selection to be somewhat confusing or
difficult.

This is not actually as confusing or difficult as it might
seem, you just need to learn how each network does things.

The first thing to look for of course are merchants who
sell the products you want to promote to your niche. In
fact, for this particular strategy you’ll want to choose
merchants who have plenty of products in your niche.

If they only have five or 10 products, they will not work
well. You’ll want to choose merchants who have at least a
hundred products or more.

Once you’ve found those, then there are many other factors
you’ll want to consider. Not every one of these will apply
in every situation, but we’ll cover them anyway since
they’re the most common concerns.

Commission Levels:
The commission percentage earned as an affiliate is
usually very important.

If you choose a niche which has very low profit margins
for example, you may find that the merchants are only
offering about 1% to 3% in affiliate commissions.

Low profit margin markets are those which compete
primarily on price. These include computers, electronics
and digital cameras.

Other markets however, will pay between 5% and 10%
commissions. And there are even some who pay as much as 12%
to 15%. It’s quite rare to see commission levels above 15%
for tangible products.

One benefit of promoting tangible products through the
affiliate networks however is that if you sell quite a bit
of product for them, most of them will increase the
percentage rate they pay you.

Some merchants have this scaled commission rate in place
from the start, while others will give it to you if you
request it.

Return Rates:
In most affiliate networks there is some way to determine
how well a merchant’s products convert, as well as how
often their products are returned.

This is not always easy to determine, and it’s not obvious
either. I could write an entire book almost on this subject
alone.

For just getting started your best bet is to explore at
the affiliate network you have chosen to work with and
become as familiar with their information as you can.

That’s all the room we have today for this lesson. In the
next lesson we will continue with Step #3 by giving you
some tips to help you get started.

Traffic Basics – Reciprocal Link Building!

In the last lesson we talked about referrer logs. Today
we’re going to talk about reciprocal link building and how
it will help your website ranking.

When it comes to SEO, reciprocal link building goes a long
way towards giving your site good rankings. Especially if
your site is relevant or related to the topic and subject
of the site you are linking to.

It is also a very effective way to drive traffic to your
site!

Reciprocal links have been around a long time.
Unfortunatel, they are an often overlooked or an under-used
method and as with any strategy there are advantages and
disadvantages involved.

So, should you be using reciprocal linking in your
marketing strategy?

That is a very good question and in today’s lesson we’re
going to go over some things you should consider about
reciprocal linking and how it will effect your business.

Let me ask you this question…

How many times have you searched for a Website to link to
only to find out that they don’t even have a links page?

Of those that do, few have an area on their website that
actually welcomes you to request a link trade. It seems
these websites are missing the boat when it comes to the
World Wide Web’s shockingly efficient linking system.

Before you begin your reciprocal linking plan, here are
some things that you should consider:

- Make sure that you are linked to relevant sites meaning
you both have the same subject matter and at the same time
all the links are also related to each other.

- Remember that it’s more about quality than quantity
when it comes to reciprocal link building. Look for quality
sites that are related to your topic.

- Keep in mind that this is a long and sometimes
frustrating process because you still have to check to see
if other websites have agreed to the link exchange and you
will need to check periodically to see if the link to your
site is still present on the websites that you have made
exchanges with.

- Be prepared for rejection. Some webmasters may turn down
your request. If that’s the case, you may want to take
their link off your site.

- Examine the other sites link pages – are they indexed
and visited by the major search engines? If the site
doesn’t have good rankings it probably won’t do you any
good to link to them.

- When requesting a link exchange, consider the links that
are already displayed on the other site. They should be
relevant to your website. Also take the time to check and
make sure that the site doesn’t have a lot of broken links -
this will effect the way in which search engines spider the
site.

- Another thing to consider is how many links are
displayed on the page you were thinking about linking to.
It is a good idea not to link with a page has more than 30
to 40 links on it.

Be sure to follow the basic link exchange rules set in
place by the sites you want to  trade links with.

The site that you are exchanging links with should exist
in major search engines and have good traffic ranking.
Alexa.com is a great way to check out a site’s rankings and
traffic flow.

All and all, reciprocal linking can be a good, free way of
achieving high website ranking, but keep in mind that you
should periodically check the status of your links and site
rankings, so that you can get the most out of your efforts.

Make sure you look for your next lesson were we will be
talking about tools that you can use to monitor your
website.
